World Summit 2009: Awards of Appreciation

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

We are now requesting nominations for the upcoming annual Images and Voices of Hope Awards of Appreciation to be held at the tenth annual Images and Voices of Hope World Summit in New York September 24-26. The awards recognize Excellence in Media that illuminates humanity's capacity for greatness, and inspires open-heartedness, dialogue and action. Our theme for this year is The Social Impact of Images and Voices of Hope in Challenging Times.

We are seeking nominees who have demonstrated a deep sense of commitment in presenting stories that bring benefit to the world. In spite of today's challenging media climate, these people have overcome difficulties, creating stories and other works that need to be told, even if they are not the most popular or attention grabbing subjects.

The award categories are in the areas of print journalism; broadcast journalism-radio;
Broadcast journalism-television; new media; music; performing arts; visual arts; advertising; films; research that advances our understanding of hope and possibility. People can nominate themselves or another individual.

Please e-mail in English a one-page bio and small paragraph description of the work to be nominated. Also, if there is a website, send the link. Email this information to Meredith Porte at mporte@wlrn.org and Donna Serpe, summit@ivoh.org. If you have an NTSC DVD or CD, please send two copies to Meredith Porte, 912 Captiva Drive, Hollywood, Florida 33019. Send all information by Tuesday, September 1.
