Doing Good Coming to MTV

The New York Times front page article says MTV in the age of Obama is adjusting its focus from wealth, celebrity and the excesses of youth to positive social messages.
 
Some of the changes can be seen in the new reality show, "T.I.'s Road to Redemption," which features a troubled rapper who helps keep children on the straight and narrow; "Taking the Stage," a reality program that showcases students at a performing arts school in Cincinnati; and "From G's to Gents," which tries to turn homeboys into gentlemen.
 
MTV, still the top-rated cable network among 12-to-24-year-olds, is owned by Viacom which has a new deal with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to produce shows more supportive of education.

This is most interesting because what it signals from a generational standpoint.  how promising
