IVOH Managing Team: Meredith Porte

MEREDITH PORTE                            Producer and Host, WLRN Public Television

Meredith Porte has been a producer and host at WLRN Public Television Channel 17 for over 30 years. She currently produces and hosts the award winning weekly arts and culture program on WLRN-Television entitled ArtStreet which airs on WLRN Public Television in South Florida. This show is now entering its eighth season.

Meredith has also produced many specials including the National Pledge Special for Public Television with co-author of the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul books, Jack Canfield. Another program Meredith produced was the award-winning Memories of the Night: A Study of the Holocaust, a documentary about teaching the Holocaust to people of multi-cultural backgrounds.

Coming up this fall, the documentary entitled, Lotus House... a Place for New Beginnings, will air on WLRN Public Television in South Florida. This program shows how Lotus House, an extraordinary transitional housing facility for homeless women and children, helps heal and transform their lives through empowerment and employment training classes, yoga, arts, and much more.

Meredith has actively worked on the Million Minutes to Peace Appeal and Global Cooperation for a Better World. Meredith is on the Managing Team for Images and Voice of Hope.

She attended Northwestern University, and the University of Miami where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. Meredith also worked in forestry in the Pacific Northwest before pursuing her career in broadcast journalism.
